In collaboration with Prof. Dr Selina Ingold (University of Applied Sciences Eastern Switzerland) and Prof. Dr Björn Maurer (PH Thurgau), we have developed a website for the pilot project "Making Trial Thurgau", which explains the concept of Makers and provides teaching materials and further training opportunities. We hope that the idea will be embraced and implemented by many other schools in Switzerland.
"School-based making is a form of open teaching that is based on the interests and ideas of students. Students develop and invent products (prototypes) individually or in small teams using both analogue and digital technologies and manufacturing processes (e.g. 3D printing). Rather than relying on model solutions or step-by-step instructions from their teacher, they instead organise their own learning process."
„The Maker-Movement is meant to empower people of all ages to create, innovate, tinker, and make their ideas and solutions
into reality.“
Bean, M. Farmer / Kerr, A. 2015
All individual elements such as the modules, colour, typography, images and graphics can be flexibly adapted to suit each category in the basic grid as in a modular system. Content determines the form and structure of the templates.
The typography changes from linear to handmade using the hover function, thereby emphasising the playful and creative approach of the Maker idea.
